After becoming one of Headingley’s most talked-about food spots, KefiYo is introducing a limited-edition Barfi-inspired frozen yoghurt for the Festival of Lights.

It’s been a whirlwind few months for KefiYo. From its hugely popular summer opening to queues stretching around the block, the independent Leeds frozen yoghurt café has quickly become one of Headingley’s most talked-about foodie destinations.

Now, the viral favourite is giving customers another reason to visit, unveiling a special limited-edition flavour to celebrate Diwali.

Inspired by Barfi, the traditional Indian sweet, the new frozen yoghurt creation brings a festive twist to KefiYo’s already colourful menu and will be available during this year’s Festival of Lights celebrations.

The launch is another example of how the Mediterranean-inspired café is keeping things fresh for its growing community of food lovers.

Since opening its doors on Ash Road this summer, KefiYo has built a devoted following among Leeds students, families and food enthusiasts, thanks to its playful flavours, colourful interiors and build-your-own frozen yoghurt concept.

Customers can choose from a wide range of frozen yoghurt flavours, including fruity options such as passion fruit and strawberry, alongside Biscoff, apple pie, tiramisu, chocolate orange, natural and vegan coconut.

The experience is all about personalisation, with unlimited standard toppings available at no extra charge and a selection of premium toppings and superfoods for those looking to create something more indulgent.

Its bright, Instagram-friendly bowls have become a regular fixture on social media, helping KefiYo attract attention well beyond Yorkshire.

The café’s successful launch has even been covered by national outlets including BBC Newsand Business Insider, cementing its reputation as a rising name on the Leeds food scene.

But despite its rapid popularity, KefiYo is continuing to introduce new flavours and experiences, with its Diwali-inspired creation celebrating the importance of food in bringing people together.

Gagan Chera, Co-Founder of KefiYo, said:

“We’re so excited to celebrate Diwali with our Leeds community and bring something a little extra special to KefiYo with this amazing new flavour. Diwali is all about joy, togetherness and celebrating with the people around you, which is exactly what KefiYo is about.”

The name KefiYo takes inspiration from the Greek word “kefi,” meaning joy, passion and zest for life, a philosophy reflected in the café’s colourful atmosphere and community-focused approach.

Alongside frozen yoghurt, visitors can also enjoy açaí bowls, smoothies, speciality coffees and matcha, while the brand has been building connections through wellbeing activities such as run clubs and Pilates pop-ups.

For Leeds food lovers looking to try something new this Diwali, KefiYo’s limited-edition Barfi flavour offers a sweet way to join the celebrations.

The special Barfi flavour will be available during this year’s Diwali festival at KefiYo, 17 Ash Road, Headingley, Leeds LS6 3JJ.
